4 Banff Coffee Shops That Stole My Heart!
I just spent the perfect weekend in Banff and fell in love with it all over again!
Not only is this little town perfect for hiking to chase frozen waterfalls, seeing wildlife, checking out different lakes and LOTS of mountain picture opportunities.. Banff avenue is also filled with local stores, restaurants, boutiques and of course picturesque coffee shops! Actually, scratch that because everything in Banff is Instagram worthy. And gosh, everyone there was smiling! I said, “I would love to live here. Everyone is just happy and not taking anything seriously.” You just get the best of every world.
We had dinner at the Balkan Restaurant which is another goood goood place with authentic schmancy greek food and “hot chocolate without alcohol.” After that, we took a stroll around town, found at least 6 coffeeshops and planned to check them out in the morning. I already knew that it would be the best day of my entire life. Haha!
And indeed, it had been. I was asked, “what does your life in 5 years look like?” I didn’t answer but once I got home, I realized that it looked and FELT a lot like that.. slow and carefree mornings filled with laughter walking around a town with the mountains in the background, hand in pockets and the other holding a cup of my favorite drink, checking out cafes and reviewing every single one of them as if I was an expert. It’s safe to say I was spoiled and really, in those moments there was nowhere else to be.
Here are four places to get your coffee fix in Banff!
1. Wild Flour — Banff’s Artisan Bakery Cafe
First one we went to was this bad boy. I’m kind of bummed I didn’t get something to eat because their bread and pastries resembled heaven. They weren’t fooling around when they put “Artisan” in their name, were they? It was VERY busy when we came in on a Sunday morning and I would say there’s so much more to that than it being located literally in the heart of town that’s easily accessible for everyone. (I mean, that’s a factor too but u get the point!) Though I’m more into the sweet hot chocolate, I easily imagined myself spending mornings there just running for breakfast while walking my dog.. My thing with Banff is getting serious, yall.
Hot Choco: 6/10
Ideal for: Breakfast and quick stops while touring the town!!! NOT FOR WORKIN (and it’s always busy + you’ll easily get distracted by pretty people with cute kids)
Staff: ALL SMILES.
2. Evelyn’s Coffee Bar
NEXT UP. The one that claimed it was Banff’s favorite coffee!
This is more of a quiet place and I love how the place was divided into sections so even though there were a few people, it didn’t feel crowded at all. Some people seemed to get work done too! And there was a patio open outside that made me all the more excited for summer! The place is perfect for instagram but I kind of stalked them on social media for this post and was a bit disappointed. Hm.. (This also got me thinking that I could move to Banff and just do digital marketing for coffee shops.) (Again, me and my thing with Banff. But putting it out there, kk thx universe! HAHA!))
3. White Bark Cafe
This cute little coffeeshop is connected to the Banff Aspen Lodge. Perfect for grabbing coffee before heading out to start doing touristy things for the day or for a quick snack break before going on to the next hike! There are literally about 6 chairs and one long table (pictured below) but I don’t know, the place felt cozy enough to stay there for a bit to drink some of my hot chocolate and just take the moment in. If you’re a solo worker, I also think this would be a great place because of the wide windows that allows the most natural light and gets you the most perfect view of Banff. Who doesn’t love taking a break from the laptop for some people watching? I know I do! I love this place. UM HIRE ME PLZ.
4. Buffalo Mountain Cafe
“We’re still going to the Instagram one, right?”
That’s how I referred to this coffeeshop. When I looked up the hashtag #banffcafe on Instagram, most, if not all, of the photos I clicked on was from this one. I think it earned the name “the Instagram one” for that reason. Haha! And because of that too, we expected it to be busy but when we arrived there, we were delighted to find the place to ourselves! It was just in time for lunch so we decided to sit down and fill our cheeks with some breakfast sandwiches. We got the bacon & egg cheesy sandwich and I’m not sure if it was just because we were hungry from too much walking or it was really goood, but the food was down our tummy in no time.
We had to drive for a few minutes but we were there before I knew it! I’ll let the pictures tell you about the vibe of the place but it felt very home-y to me! Most of the furniture were wood and of course, we had to take the only soft couch in sight 😎I’m a lucky little lady.
I hope your stay will be as dreamy as mine had been. :)
